MARKET ANALYSIS The second last mohair sale (6th) of the 2017 winter selling season performed very well with a general increase in price on all types of mohair. It goes without saying that the general demand was also good with excellent competition between buyers. The exchange rate was 0.5% in buyers favour. The quality of the offering was excellent with a lot of well-known clips participating for the best prices. The farmers must be congratulated to deliver such good clips under this terrible drought conditions. A seasonal record price for winter kids was established today at R380.00/kg. This for the EGT tested, 24.9 micron, super style, B-length bale of winter kids, presented by Jordi and Gay van Hasselt of Prince Albert.
Today’s sales analysis is as follows: The price of kids increased by 3.4% a market indicator of R283.59/kg and a 100% sale clearance; young goat hair increased by 4.8% with a market indicator of R245.77/kg and a sale clearance of 100%. Adult mohair increased by 4.7% with a market indicator of R215.96/kg and a sale clearance of 100%. This brought the overall sale clearance to 100% and the overall market indicator to R235.23 an increase of 4.5%.
