To enhance the quality of foods produced leaning towards sustainability in agriculture. Also strengthening own supply chain
How was it done?
Its an holistic approach which manages the entire farming proses. Soil management as well as chemical management( fertilizers pesticides etc.). Woolworths has a team of experts which provide mentorship and help. The farmers need to reach a certain product quality to do business with Woolworths. A key part of getting buy-in from farmers was that Woolworths pays for the audit. There is no major cost for the farmers; in fact they have seen a reduction in inputs and related costs
