Started by Joseph Hendricks, benefitting farm workers in the Eastern Cape.
Why was it started?
Joseph started his agricultural career as a fruit hawker, but always wanted his own farm.
How was it done?
Joseph bought the farm with a Land Bank loan. He made use of various industry experts in his farming venture. He met labour and production consultants on a weekly basis and also received support from Kromco (advice) and Hortgro (replaced orchards).
How was it funded?
Social and Economic Implications
Joseph employs 60 permanent and 200 seasonal workers. A crèche is available for the children of farm workers.
