Nkanyezi Stimulation Centre vegetable garden

The Nkanyezi Stimulation Centre.

Why it was started?
To improve the nutrition of children in the centre.

How was it done?
The Nkanyezi Stimulation Centre is a safe place for approximately 35 children with multiple disabilities.

How it was funded?
Nashua Mobile and the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation. The Nashua Mobile team worked with Reel Gardening to plant out the existing space at the centre and to train the caretakers in gardening practice that is free from chemicals and which ensures a continuous and sustainable harvest. The centre maintains and care for its garden and thus far has not only been able to feed the children but also sells extra produce for additional income.

Social and economic implications
The centre uses produce from the garden to feed children and also sells some produce to generate income.
